This 3/8 ‘Super Gnome’ is a true barber’s tool, originally used for hair thinning - but it’s great for detail work if you have a partial or shaped beard. This issue is made from historic LE GRELOT blanks and with a heavy grind it’s a versatile razor, and in a size now not often seen.

Finally - something a bit special. We were asked by a customer to commission this bespoke 7-day set from Thiers-Issard and the photos here and on the ‘more photos’ page are reproduced by kind permission of the owner. Briefly, the set comprises of seven Le Grelot 6/8 ‘Soleil’ razors fitted with legal ivory scales and lettered, in  Italian, with the days of the week by means of laser-etching. The set is complemented by being housed in the Thiers-Issard luxury burl elm 7-razor box available on this page

This may be classed as an ‘entry-level’ Thiers-Issard razor but make no mistake - the blade is every bit as capable as its more expensive brethren and nicely finished with the ‘Spartacus’ logo in black etching. A great introduction to the world of Thiers-Issard razors!

This ‘Bijou de France’ (Jewel of France) razor is from the Thiers-Issard historic stable and features an exquisitely-marked blade. The spine is hand-wrought in the classic ‘Flying Tudor Rose’ pattern and the whole set off by  blonde horn scales. A superb, understated razor that is very elegant indeed and sits so well in the hand.

This is the new ‘grelot form’ 11/16 round point, here sat in ebony scales. Great control is given by the deep thumb notch and this blade is the extra thick grind version. The blade is slightly shorter than on most straight razors making it easy to use and giving again good control in use. A very smart, elegant piece.

Now in the straight-tang historic blade, the unusual ‘dreadnought’ point certainly makes this razor stand out in any crowd, as does the ‘festonne’ worked spine and gold-leafed ‘Spartacus’ motif. Add in finely-made and polished bone scales and you have her a razor of great distinction and extremely striking good looks. Not to be missed!

Using the same blade as in the above razor, this 6/8 Historic model again has the Spartacus gold-leafed blade - the difference is in the scales, which here are of Red Stamina, a specially-made laminated rosewood that has been treated specially to resist water damage, a thing natural rosewood is prone to. The effect is superb - far better than the photos. A really good-looking razor!
