This razor is shave-ready and is, therefore, literally RAZOR-SHARP. This means that the edge will cut at a touch. IT IS NOT A TOY. It is intended for use as a facial or body hair remover ONLY. This razor has been honed and stropped to this stage and I must again stress that, if you are not familiar with the techniques of handling this type of razor, it must be treated with the respect shown to any very sharp knife or instrument. If, of course, you are familiar with straight razor shaving then I trust you will appreciate this fine example of the razor-maker’s art!

Presented in a hard-formed velvet-faced carry box with a durable plastic lid intended for re-use, this kit has all a newcomer to the Art of straight razor shaving needs - and the razor itself is supplied (as all our razors are) ready to use from the case!

Out of the box the kit is more easily seen - consisting of razor, strop with paste, shave brush, stainless steel shave bowl and lid with shaving soap included. There’s even an alum block for skincare after shaving!

A note on the razor -

This razor is now the standard issue with the starter kit and, we feel, is the perfect choice for a beginner. The slightly shorter blade, coupled with the stiffer, heavier grind profile does tend to be easier to handle than most - and it is of course supplied shave-ready.

Below are some detailed photos of the new inclusion in the kit - the Thiers-Issard 11/16 heavy grind shoulderless razor.

This replaces the previously included ‘Jaguar’ and ‘Bechtal’ razors and will now be standard issue. It is in fact identical to our ‘basic black’ razor featured here and is an ideal first razor.
